SASP Support Armed Forces Families

Friday, 04 July 2025

We at SASP are thrilled to share that we've secured a two-year grant from the Veterans' Foundation to support our work with Armed Forces children and their families across Somerset.

The grant will enable us to expand the impactful work already being delivered through our Jump Start programme, led by Aaron, Jump Start Mentor, providing targeted support to armed forces children through mentoring, community connection, and tailored wellbeing activities.

Through this project, SASP will offer one-to-one mentoring and weekly group sessions that creates safe, supportive spaces where armed forces children feel listened to, valued, and empowered. By building trusted relationships, we can help people overcome barriers to wellbeing, reduce isolation, and strengthen confidence. A key part of our approach is using sport and physical activity as a positive tool to bring people together, improve mental health, and encourage connection within the community. Whether it's informal group sessions, walking and talking, or structured activities, we know these experiences can help build resilience and a sense of belonging.

Let's Work Together: We're excited about the possibilities this funding brings and are keen to connect with others who are working in this space. If you'd like to find out more about the project or explore opportunities to collaborate, we'd love to hear from you. You can contact SASP by getting in touch with Laura LDyke@sasp.co.uk or Aaron AMcgough@sasp.co.uk

Together, we can create meaningful change and ensure Armed Forces families feel seen, supported, and celebrated.
